Want to test out a formal pen?
The formal pens on the homepage are all mid-range priced pens, combining a good deal with a quality pen. But we know that some people prefer to start with something cheaper to see if they like using old fashioned pens. While we would recommend getting one from the homepage, here are some alternate options.
Advantages to starter pens: Starter pens are cheaper, but still write very well. They're a great way to train yourself to write without unnecessary pressure and get your mind in the right place.
Disadvantages to starter pens: The main disadvantage is the quality of the body and the quality of the nib. While we've tested these for quality, there is a distinct difference between a starter pen and a full formal pen. The body may be made of plastic, and while the nib writes well, they are harder than the soft nibs you see on formal pens. They also sometimes require converters to replace ink.
